Watch: PRESSYES – Touch The Sky

‘Touch The Sky’ is the debut single by singer, producer and songwriter PRESSYES released via Ink Music. The stellar new track has been produced by René Mühlberger aka Pressyes and follows his well-received collaboration with Austrian trio Gudrun von Laxenburg on track “Just Can’t Get Enough feat. PRESSYES” (Skint Records).

PRESSYES is the new project of Vienna-based musician René Mühlberger who previously toured Europe with well-known Austrian bands. Hidden away from the public’s eyes and ears, sheltered in his studio behind a stash of analog synthesisers and equipment, Mühlberger has been working on bringing his vision of summery and sparkly yet psychedelic pop tunes to life.

Inspired by the likes of Tame Impala, Kevin Parker, Ariel Pink, Foxygen and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, PRESSYES collected countless memories on his travels, backpacking through Asia and Europe. The need to process all these experiences – the bits and pieces of information and values taken from different cultures and places – led him to really take time away from the world, condensing these memories and carefully crafting his sound with seasoned analog equipment. The result is a sublime soundscape embodied with a reminiscence of the big pop days of the 70’s, while scattered with lush textures and psychedelia.

Says PRESSYES of the single:

“Touch The Sky” played a very strong role in defining the overall sound for PRESSYES. It started off as a very simple acoustic psychedelic tune 2 years ago – and suddenly turned into a groovy hip hop influenced track after making up my vintage Ludwig drum set and boosting it through an old cassette tape machine. The lyrics for the song were never really written – they were just improvised while singing the first take. And that’s what the song is all about: letting the mind breathe instead of overthinking”.
